Hymn Melodies For Viola and Violin, Volume II contains 15 very well-known Christian hymns, all written for Viola and Violin! The Violin part has three verses of difficulty — easy, medium, then hard.
Volume II is substantially more challenging than Volume I for the violinist. All third verse harmony parts contain running 16th note passages, using 3rd and 4th position. This volume is geared for violinists in at least the end of Suzuki book 5 or the beginning of book 6 or for students studying perhaps the Bach Double or Accolay Concerto. Many third verse melody parts go up an octave; so, the violist should be able to shift to 3rd position.
