Christmas Melodies: Double Stop Solos and Duets For Violin, Volume I (includes CD with bound book purchase), is an excellent way to introduce violin students to the magical world of double stops! Each volume contains both duet and double stop solo arrangements of 14 beloved Christmas carols. A simple, optional piano accompaniment is also included and sent to you as a download.

Martha's novel concept for students to learn double stops begins by playing duets first, with the identical notes combined and rewritten as a double stop solo on the opposite page. As students play the duets first, their ear is given a nice example to help them along as they learn to play the double stop solos.

Volume I is for students that have never played double stops before (late Suzuki book 3, Bach Bourees, Seitz Concerti) and has no shifting or 4th fingers. You will find lots of 3rds, 6ths and octaves with ringing 3rd fingers.

This novel approach to learning double stops is endorsed by Suzuki pioneer, William Starr, in his glowing Foreword. As such, it is an ideal starting place to begin the journey into the wonderful world of double stops!
