Hymn Melodies For Violin and Cello, Volume II is a beautiful volume of hymns combining the bright, sparkling sounds of the Violin with the deep and rich tones of the Cello! It contains 15 very well-known Christian hymns, with the Cello part having three verses of difficulty — easy, medium, then hard.
Volume II is substantially more challenging than Volume I for the cellist. All third verse harmony parts contain running 16th note passages, using higher positions. This volume is geared for cellists in at least the end of Suzuki book 5 or the beginning of book 6. Many third verse melody parts go up an octave; so, the violinist should be able to shift to 3rd position.
It is an awesome, multi-purpose kind of volume. Try using it to (1) help students improve their reading skills, (2) share music at church services or (3) simply enjoy your love of hymns on your instrument with your friends!
