Volume II of Christmas Melodies: Double Stop Solos and Duets For Cello is quite a bit more challenging than Volume I. The double stops involve occasional triple stops. Students should be in at least late Suzuki book five, early book six or have studied Vivaldi / Breval Concerti, etc.
Like Volume I, arrangements of Christmas Carols appear first as duets, with the exact same notes then rewritten for one player as a double stop solo. By playing the duet first, students get an exact duplication of what the double stops should sound like. This is a very challenging Volume (I have to practice the violin books every Christmas!), but it’s a fun way to improve your technical skills on the cello, while also dazzling your friends and family!
